THE FIVE PATIENT FRIENDS

From strangers to best friends; five beautiful ladies found kinship in each other during their university days. Even when posted to different states during their youth service year, they made it a point to visit each other regularly. As their time for service came to an end, an advertisement in a national daily caught the attention of one of them. Upon spotting an advertisement for a job that aligned perfectly with their shared college degree, one of five friends immediately contacted the others. After all expressing interest in the job, they all submitted their applications and found themselves rewarded with letters of interview several weeks later. With nerves on edge, the group traveled to Lagos for their chance at a successful future.

The wait was on for twenty hopefuls who showed up early for their scheduled interviews. But as the hours ticked by- 10am, 12pm...1pm- it became clear that something was amiss. Unbeknownst to them, the interview committee devised a plan to see if any candidates would bow out from sheer frustration caused by repeated delays. Despite arriving on time for their interview, four frustrated candidates stormed out of the room in anger when the panel was delayed. The remaining sixteen waited patiently until the panel arrived and apologized for their tardiness, leading to a rescheduled interview. However, when the five friends were included amongst ten candidates on the re-scheduled date, history repeated itself as three individuals went home angry after waiting an extended period of time. Yet again, the panel showed up late due to unforeseen circumstances and requested all candidates return at 4 pm. Instead of being upset like previous applicants, the five friends laughed off this setback and returned later that day prepared to demonstrate their worth. The group situated themselves across from the judging panel, ready for what lay ahead. However, they quickly noticed that events were taking an unexpected turn - one far different than anything they could have predicted.

During the panel interview for a job, five friends were not given the chance to speak. Instead, their credentials were analyzed and they were served drinks while the panel members discussed their game plan with the candidates. The friends were surprised when they received appointment letters to start work as they had only thought of themselves as patient souls who had endured being caught in the middle of dribbling. Amidst heated discussions among members of the city council over how best to address growing concerns about access to reliable public transportation in the community, a new proposal was presented and ultimately approved earlier today. This bold initiative seeks to expand existing bus routes, construct new rail lines, and implement innovative tech solutions that are projected to benefit riders across all demographics.
